Dos Espias en Caracas durante la Historieta de Venezuela

Book launch and conversation with Moises Naím, Laureano Marquez y Edo Ilustrado

Moisés Naím has been called “one of the world’s leading thinkers” (Prospect Magazine) and has been ranked among the top 100 global thought leaders by the Gottlieb Duttweiler Institute of Switzerland. He is a distinguished fellow at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, an internationally-syndicated columnist and a best-selling author of 14 books, including “The End of Power” and “Illicit". In 2013, “The End of Power” was selected by the Washington Post and the Financial Times as one of the best books of the year. Naím recently published his first novel “Two Spies in Caracas”, an almost fictional story of love and conspiracy in the times of Hugo Chávez.

”Historietas de Venezuela” by Laureano Marquez and Edo Ilusttrasdo is the history of a country told frame by frame, Republic by Republic. For two years, the humorist and political scientist, Laureano Márquez joined his ingenuity to that of the cartoonist and plastic artist Edo -also known as Eduardo Sanabria- to conceive, draw, edit, design and publish, "Cartoon of Venezuela: from Macuro to Maduro." Designed so that everyone can read it; Illustrated with humor and methodically researched, this editorial product aims not only to narrate the history of the country through illustrations but also aims to bring closer the history of this troubled homeland. "Cartoon of Venezuela: from Macuro to Maduro" seeks union. Have parents and children read it, comment on it, and open up to questions. It also aspires to be an editorial explanation to all the curious people from other countries who frequently ask: and what happened in your country? You not, and that you were rich? Edo assures that he took care of making the history book that he would have liked to consult when he was 15 years old.

META Miami and Miami Biennale present these three great writers and thinkers in a conversation about their latest books.
