FOREVER SUMMER: Miami’s Postwar image in the works of Andy Sweet, GODLIS, and Bunny Yeager
Forever Summer is a definitive photography exhibition capturing the soul, grit, and glamour of Miami’s most transformative decades. Bringing together the works of Andy Sweet, GODLIS, and Bunny Yeager, the collection serves as a visual love letter to a city where the light never fades and the season never ends.
Forever Summer explores the intersection of three distinct perspectives:
· Andy Sweet: Known for his saturated, candy-colored chronicles of South Beach in the late 1970s, Andy Sweet’s work captures the vibrant, sun-drenched daily lives of the "Old World" community that once defined the shore.
· GODLIS: Bringing a cinematic, street-photography edge to the lineup, GODLIS captures the stark shadows and haunting Art Deco geometry of the city’s iconic skyline, from the Betsy Ross to the Jefferson hotels.
· Bunny Yeager: The "Queen of Pin-up," Yeager’s revolutionary lens brought a sophisticated, high-glamour allure to the Florida coast, cementing the image of the Miami beauty in the global imagination.
“This exhibition isn't just about nostalgia,” says Milagros Maldonado. “It’s about the specific, electric energy that happens when you mix Sweet’s technicolor joy with GODLIS’s architectural grit and Yeager’s daring style. It’s the sun-drenched Miami mirage resonating in our minds—a place of Forever Summer.”
GODLIS, The Betsy Ross, 1985.
“The depth of this exhibition was made possible through the collaboration with Ed Christin,” says Isabel Pérez. “His archival insight into the Sweet, Yeager and GODLIS collection and his commitment to preserving the authenticity of these eras allowed us to build a narrative that feels both timeless and raw.”
The opening reception will be held on May 14 at 7 pm and will feature live music by Tim Laroque. The artists’ estates and representatives will be in attendance to celebrate this rare gathering of Florida’s photographic titans.

JAMES TURRELL | Coconino
Born in Los Angeles, California, in 1943, for over half a century, the American artist James Turrell has worked directly with light and space to create artworks that engage the viewer with the limits and wonder of human perception. Turrell, an avid pilot who has logged over twelve thousand hours flying, considers the sky as his studio, material and canvas. New Yorker critic Calvin Tompkins writes, “His work is not about light, or a record of light; it is light — the physical presence of light made manifest in sensory form.” Informed by his training in perceptual psychology and a childhood fascination with light, Turrell began experimenting with light as a medium in southern California in the mid-1960’s. The Pasadena Art Museum mounted a one-man show of his Projection Pieces, created with high-intensity projectors and precisely modified spaces, in 1967. Mendota Stoppages, a series of light works created and exhibited in his Santa Monica studio, paired Projection Pieces with structural cuts in the building, creating apertures open to the light outside. These investigations aligned and mixed interior and exterior to lay the groundwork for the open sky spaces found in his later Skyspace, Tunnel and Crater artworks. Turrell’s work has been shown in many of the world’s most eminent museums and galleries, including most recently in major retrospectives at The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, L.A.; and the Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris; Garage Center for Contemporary Culture, Moscow; Gagosian Gallery, London; and Pace Gallery, New York. The artist participated in the 54th Venice Biennale, 2011, and is the recipient of many awards such as the Smithsonian Archives of American Art Award 2013 and is a member of the American, National, and Belgium Academies of Arts and Letters. His work is included in the permanent collections of prominent museums the world over.
